About Juanita Fuchs

Hello there, I’m Juanita, a qualified acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner based in Grange, on Brisbane’s northside (Queensland). My goal is to uncover what your body needs to heal itself in a holistic way — no matter what ailment or condition you’re living with.

Your general practitioner of acupuncture

While I have a particular interest in chronic conditions, pain, fertility concerns and stress, I enjoy the challenge of working with all types of health challenges. In the treatment room, I’m more like a chef than a cook — rather than following a strict recipe, I draw from many healing tools to create a tailored approach unique to your body’s specific needs.

Holistic healing — incorporating the mind, body and spirit.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, health is seen as a state of harmony between your physical, mental and emotional self. Through fine, carefully placed needles, acupuncture activates specific points on your body’s energy pathways, or meridians, to promote its natural healing response. This holistic approach can help ease discomfort while also enhancing your body’s natural resilience.

I use Chinese medicine diagnostic practices to find out what your body needs through a process of observation, pulse taking, looking at your tongue and palpation.

Then, using fine acupuncture needles, I target specific points on your body to activate natural healing while helping with the management of pain and stress.

I also encourage awareness of unhealthy patterns and habits you may have in your life, helping you take an active part in your own healing process.

I wholeheartedly believe in holistic healthcare and although I have a traditional approach, I strongly support the integration of both Eastern and Western medicine.

My values

  • Affordable healthcare

I strongly believe acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine should be accessible to all. I aim to keep my pricing affordable and offer concession rates for students and pensioners.

  • Practical solutions

I come from a country family of ‘doers’, so I love finding solutions to any health issue you’re facing. If it turns out I can’t help you, I will always refer you to someone who can.

  • Best quality care

It’s extremely important to me that you receive the best care possible. Great service is a key factor of my business and I always strive for excellence in my treatments.

I explored multiple careers before settling on acupuncture and holistic health.

I grew up in the tiny South Australian mining town of Leigh Creek, out bush and miles from anywhere. My first job was an electrical fitter apprenticeship in the mines, but it just didn’t fit quite right. I then became a swimming teacher for the Education Department, before moving into events management and hospitality.

By my late 30s, I was starting to question my career — surely there had to be more to life than this. On the brink of burnout, I took a year off to travel, spending months in India and Thailand studying Pranayama and Yoga philosophy while exploring all kinds of healing modalities.

When I landed on acupuncture and Chinese medicine, I knew I’d found my calling. I’d never seen such a system where you can work holistically with the body to activate its own self-healing mechanisms — and often very quickly, too. Plus, as a practical, solutions-orientated person, I loved that this modality would allow me to work hands-on to help people.

I returned to Queensland in 2010 and completed my Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture). Since then, I have continued studying each year with masters in my craft, to further hone my skills. I have also volunteered as an acupuncturist in both Bali and Vietnam.

Every day, I’m awed by how the body can heal itself if we can simply support it in the right way.

My patients often say: “You don’t stop until you get it sorted.” And it’s true — rather than strictly following an established protocol with little regard to what your body is telling me, I listen closely. I make tweaks. I try something new until I get the result I’m looking for.

This is what gives me great joy — the challenge of constantly trying to improve the ways I can help you. That’s why I’m always striving to better my knowledge and have completed extra training and courses every year since becoming a qualified acupuncturist in 2013.
